A one-hour boat ride on Lake Naivasha past hippo pods, fish eagles and lakeshore wildlife.

Lake Naivasha is a freshwater lake in the Rift Valley with one of Kenya鈥檚 largest hippo populations. A boat ride takes you close (but at a safe distance) to hippo pods, with African fish eagles swooping for fish thrown from the boat.

Boats leave from the lodges and public jetties along Moi South Lake Road and can drop you at Crescent Island for a walking safari.

Tips

  • Late afternoon is calm and great for photos.
  • Combine with a Crescent Island walk.
  • Life jackets are provided on all boats.
